Eastern Paris has token on a new lease of life thanks to the Bastille Opera House, the François Mitterrand national library and the Palais Omnisport at Bercy, the new venue for music and sports.
 
The Viaduc des Arts arcades, converted from a railway viaduct, invites you to window-shop at exclusive arts and crafts galleries. Overhead, the old railroad tracks are now replaced by a landscaped walkway. At nearby Porte Dorée is the musée des Arts d'Afrique et d' Océonie, with its sculptures, masks and terrariums.
